Boy-napped
This porn chic classic is notable for a couple reasons. First, Bruce LaBruce seems to have stolen the general storyline and some of the imagery for his German production The Raspberry Reich (2004) aka The Revolution is My Boyfriend. Secondly, it was directed by exploitation auteur David E. Durston (I Drink Your Blood, The Blue Sextet, Stigma) under the pseudonym 'Spencer Logan.' Additionally, it stars crazed porn chic leading man Jamie Gillis (The Opening of Misty Beethoven, Waterpower) in a gay sadomasochistic performance. Aside from Gillis, it also features the first role of Wade Nichols, who not only went on to star in straight porn films, but also started a relatively success career as a disco singer under the name 'Dennis Parker,' with hit song "Like an Eagle" being produced by Village People creator/producer Jacques Morali. Nichols eventually contracted AIDS around the mid-1980s and died mysteriously not long after (some suspect the cause of was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but this has never been confirmed). It's been something most of these directors haven't completely attempted to hide yet don't bring up. Contrary to the cliche that porn ruins a straight career, in fact it's never kept those behind the camera from working in other genres. Durston, in particular, always had a hand in the specialized and insular netherworld of gay hardcore porn. Under the pseudonym David Ransom, Durston made the notorious gay hardcore films Boy-Napped (1975), with Jamie Gillis and Wade Nichols, and Manhold (1976) in 3-D with Gillis, Nichols, and roughie auteur Zebedy Colt. Drawing the same vivid connection between sex and violence that distinguishes I Drink Your Blood, Boy-Napped attempted to mix heavy gay S&M with a straightforward exploitation melodrama. One scene called for Gillis to run through the streets of Little Italy carrying a gun. Startled neighbors phoned the police. Durston took the rap and ended up spending the night in jail. And in a strange Hollywood Babylon twist, Manhold was never released because it starred an actor who got a gig in the Clint Eastwood film Escape from Alcatraz. In the film world, it's not uncommon for sex movies to be "purchased back" by representatives of actors who have gone on to bigger things, but it never works. The rumor or an actual print of the film always leaks out." Complicated relationships between men and lovers are explored in this vintage gay porn sex movie from Hand in Hand Studios. Boynapped features a strong story about kidnapping, gay sex, extortion, revenge, and more, mature models with body hair, narration, and finger-fucking. The story revolves around a hunky athlete of a wealthy background and his college roommate getting into sex when they are kidnapped, held for ransom, and fucked silly. What follows is a sexual free-for-all that caused New York's Michael's Thing to accurately predict Boynapped would become "one of the classic gay films." Features spanking, stripping, long-haired hippy types, "real" men who aren't clones, bondage, and plenty more! This seems, overall, to have been a vehicle for good-looking singer and actor Wade Nichols (a/k/a Dennis Parker), with his good acting ability and rugged, masculine body. This remastering contains the episodes of S & M and fisting in the original version, edited out in later versions. Michael Hardwick appeared in Adam & Yves and Spread Eagles, both available from Bijou Video. Jamie Gillis has a reputation as a straight porn star. Dennis Parker, who starred in both gay and straight porn films, actually made a disco record which included the hit single, "Like An Eagle."
